Twins with Teething Necklaces

I have twin girls, now aged 2 and half, who wore the teething beads from 4 months through to their last teeth, 2 years 1 month.

I’d heard women talking about them in Spain, and was a bit sceptical. However, with two babies to look after I didn’t want to face the horror stories I’d heard about teething so decided to give them a go (it couldn’t hurt).

I am extremely pleased I did. During the 2 years they were wearing them, I could tell they were teething from the rosie cheeks and the appearance of a new tooth, but they were never in discomfort, never screamed or kept me awake because of teething.

The only time they showed any signs of a problem, was when I took the beads off to adjust them. As a busy Mum I didn’t get round to putting them back on straight away and the next day, both girls were very miserable and out of sorts, I put the beads on and within 24 hours they were back to being happy. I never took them off again!

I cant rate these beads high enough. I have to be honest I am not one for homeopathy or alternative medicines I resorted to good old calpol, dentinox and on occasions ibrofren but to be honest just seemed to be plying my one year old with drugs every night or day.

I had visited Spain on holiday and noticed many of the babies wearing these beads and decided that I should just give it a go. My little girl suffered prior to using the beads with red cheeks, disturbed sleep and I could just tell she was generally uncomfortable. Within a few days of the beads going on I noticed a huge difference. The red cheeks and bad nights stopped. She never noticed the beads and wore them till she had finished teething, I did change them twice in the two and a half years as she slept and bathed in them.

What I can say is that at one point I decided to take them off to ‘see’ what would happen and I had a horrible few days until they I put them back on my daughter.

Having learned my lesson and discovered the ‘answer’ I put the beads on my second child at four months old, he is now two and half and I have just taken them off as he has all his teeth. He never once noticed the beads and never asked to take them off. Unlike my first I have no idea when any of his teeth came through, other than the obvious front ones. I have no clue when he his big back ones came through which is great. Touch wood he has slept 7 till 6 ish undisturbed from 6 months. Who knows whether I would have been this lucky with him without the beads but either way I wont risk it if I have another and will recommend these beads time and time again.

How we discovered teething beads

Our family recently spent 18 months living and working in Spain. There was Granddad, Nanny, 3 sisters and their husbands, 2 young children and then twins who were born whilst we were in Spain. We noticed many young children wearing yellow beads around their necks. After a while we asked why so many children were wearing these beads and that was when we discovered that they were teething beads. Attracted by the idea of a more natural solution to the problem of teething pain and the stress that it was causing our young ones – not to mention the sleepless nights for ourselves! – we purchased some beads from the local chemist. Bingo, no more teething pains.

On further investigation we found that these teething beads are very popular across much of Europe. However when friends tried to find some in the UK it soon became clear that they were not available in the UK and we found ourselves bringing back supplies whenever we returned to visit.

When the family returned to the UK we could no longer supply the teething necklaces so we decided to set up an arrangement with the Swiss company to import and supply the teething necklaces to the UK market which is how we arrived where we are today.
